If you want to feel like a local, if you want to enjoy France like an insider, take your trip with the expertise of Susan Leduc and Picturesque Voyages! Our visit to Giverny was like traveling through time. Not only did we enjoy and learn so much of Monet’s home, personal life and art, we were so fortunate to discover the hidden gem of a museum on the grounds! Although we thought we were familiar with this period in art history, Susan made sure we experienced the magic of the Impressionist art world and understood its importance and impact on a much deeper level.
Our day walking through the Paris Passages was spectacular! We mixed the 18th century with modern times shopping, eating and experiencing Paris as we’ve never before! Although in several areas in the middle of this city, we were part of something we never knew existed before Susan’s plan for a really special day! We loved that you shared a special, secret part of Paris with us! Thank you for all your planning, your expertise and for personalizing a most memorable Paris visit!
I recently had a tour with Picturesque Voyages and enjoyed it very much. Susan is a mesmerizing tour guide, clearly an expert in her field and brought Paris “to life” for me in a unique way. I learned more than I had expected, and am still thinking of L’Orangerie and the beautiful masterpieces days later. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
I had a memorable and enlightening afternoon with Susan on her personal guided tour of the Richelieu Wing of the Louvre, studying and enjoying French painting of the 17th through early 19th centuries. The broadly balanced overview was also delivered with nice touches of pleasant humor. I came away from the experience with a new appreciation for and understanding of the magnificent pieces on display, and some of the rich history of the institution itself. Make time to visit these galleries with Susan, and have great fun learning.
We very much enjoyed our walking tour of Montmarte with Susan. She began with a very informative slideshow illustrating the history of the area and emphasized several key themes from the beginning and throughout the tour, which gave the experience a thorough intellectual continuity. We appreciated that the tour incorporated engaging and accessible art/architectural commentary along with historical, political, and cultural insights. Susan’s tour provided a unique view of Montmarte that we could not have accessed on our own, and we highly recommend it to other visitors to Paris
If you’ve read the travel guides and taken general walking tours, upgrade to Susan’s insider knowledge of Paris and her academic expertise on French gardens and art. My travel companion and I chose Luxembourg Gardens as an introduction to deeper knowledge of Parisian gardens and their genesis. In addition to insignt about the garden design commissioned by Marie de Medici in the early 1600s, we happened on the gardeners moving citrus and palm trees with forklifts into the orangerie for winter. Susan talked to the gardeners, managed to get us into the orangerie to look at some of the 350 trees in their protected and warm home. Then, off to the Jardin des Plantes and lunch at Restaurant a La Mosquée–a Parisian dining experience we’d never have stumbled across without Susan. And on our return, my friend and I veered off to see the Arènes de Lutèce–excavated Roman arena–that Susan had casually pointed out to us. She also gave us her PowerPoint lecture on Luxembourg Garden–a wonderful souvenir of a fabulous day with Susan.
